Our Mission

The mission of the VBTP is to support and defend the Constitutions of the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia
​by monitoring and engaging elected and unelected officials at the local, state and national levels.
The VBTP also conducts educational events on certain ballot issues.

Presentation by Direct Legislative Action Chair Vic Nicholls on the updates to the General Assembly’s Legislative Information System. 
Business meeting: Do we have a quorum? Yes
Last meeting minutes: Motion made by Leslie 2nd by Larry passed to approve the July 11, 2024 meeting minutes.
Treasury report: Larry Korn, checking account and PayPal total is $9,862.62. 
Committee Reports – Membership, Teresa Langille – Christmas potluck party December 12, 2024 bring a side dish, dessert, or appetizer to share.   
New Business:
Dianna: Virginia Tea Party Winter Summit November 23rd in Richmond they are looking into getting a bus to attend the inauguration of President Trump
Election of Board is in January for Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary anyone interested in running should submit their name.

  •  Elected officials recognized: Former Delegate Karen Greenhalgh
  •  Chair Dianna Howard introduced the City Council Candidate Forum districts 1, 3. 5. 7  & 8 and the rules for the forum.  Each candidate was given 1 minutes for opening statements followed by 1 minute to answer questions provided by attendees followed by 1 minute for closing statements.
  •  Candidates: Ryan Gilliam, Councilmember Hutchinson, Councilmember Michael Berlucchi, LG Shaw, Vice Mayor Rosemary Wilson, Cash Green, Mabinty Scott, Leland Jones, Phil Hines and Stacy Cummings participated. Christine Felder, and Matthew Conner were a no show.

  • Chair Dianna Howard introduced the VB Mayoral Candidate Forum and the rules for the forum.  Each candidate was given 2 minutes for opening statements followed by 1 minute to answer questions provided by attendees followed by 1 minute for closing statements. 
  • Candidates: Mayor Bobby Dyer, John Moss, Rick Kowalewitch, Chris Taylor, and Sabrina Wooten participated. Cheryl Turpin was a No show.

Introduction of speaker: Constitutional Scholar, Gary Porter. 
Announcements:
Ron Askel spoke on the activities of the CVA. His topic was about the negative actions of the medical VA Administration.
David Cutchens invited everyone to meeting concerning Family Values at 7:00, p.m. on Monday in Chesapeake. 
Monty Ashliman: running at-large for the school board.
Aldo candidate for sheriff.
Bert Springfellow spoke for Robert F Kennedy for President

Last meeting minutes: Motion made and passed to approve the June 11, 2024 meeting minutes.
Treasury report:  Larry Korn, checking account = $10,985.14 and PayPal = &99.02.  The total is $11.084.16.  Fund raising totals from the Garden Tea Party in June totaled $2,995.00.
Committee Reports – Membership, Teresa Langille – Discussed Vision 2040 and reminded group it had been adopted in the Virginia Beach schools and elsewhere in Virginia in 2012.  At our next meeting there will be a mayor forum discussing the idea of doing away with single family homes. Dues for 2024-2025 are due now. 
New Business:

Daphne is leading training on voter rolls.
Vic Nicholls was elected to serve as the Legislator Chair for the State of Virginia Tea Party.
The next Tea Party Membership meeting well be held on August 8, 2024  Maureen has requested all members bring snacks as we are expecting a crowd.
